Twice the Efficiency at Half the Price

June 4th, 2008 · No Comments

The San Jose Business Journal is reporting that Hewlett Packard inked a deal today (Wednesday, June 4) with a Livermore-based company called Xtreme Energetics over a licensing deal for a new transparent-transistor solar panel technology. The article states that this new technology will generate electricity at “twice the efficiency and half the price” of current systems. The transparent transistors can be produced using less-expensive materials, such as zinc and tin, meaning high-grade silicon and other complex materials aren’t required.

There’s no additional information about what products might be brought to market, and truthfully I can’t even find Xtreme’s website. More to come.
