Well, perhaps this is a good time to consider working in the alternative energy industry. . . According to a UN report highlighted by the article “UN reports big jump in ‘green energy’“. According to the report, the overall global energy market absolutely surged in 2007, including $148 billion in global investments - a 60 percent gain from the $92.6 billion reported in 2006.
The investments range the gamut from still-in-research and untested applications to viable and adopted technology - most specifically wind and solar. Solar investments climbed a whopping 90 percent from the previous year totaling $28 billion dollars in 2007. While of course we’re in a down-turned economy right now, I would not be wholly surprised if the solar and wind industries continue to benefit from the overall state of the energy market.
